Sorry for the repeat! Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks without a lot of help!

Fred
While contemplating the writing of The Iconography of Architectural Plans, New Delhi: 2002; I was confronted with the problem of reproducing the plans of existing buildings (temples) that had appeared in various publications and studies which fell under copyright restrictions. I circumvented this problem by carefully redrawing the individual plans on my computer by using Adobe PageMaker 6.0. At first, the time involved was lengthy--e.g., the plan of the Bayon at Angkor consumed the better part of two days. In addition, the plans were reproduced full page as I had become weary over the years of viewing the minuscule plans that appeared in the various art history studies.
The redrawn plans appeared not only in The Iconography of Architectural Plans, but also: Islamic Tombs in India, New Delhi: 2004; Royal Palaces, Residences and Pavilions of India, New Delhi: 2006; and the collected plans were published in: Monuments of India and the Indianized States, New Delhi: 2007.
Recently, I have been redrawing plans of cathedrals and churches of Europe and have decided to share them with anyone interested. The plans in this Blog do not fall within copyright restrictions and are free to whoever chooses to use them in any way.
